LOCATION: Todos Santos, Mexico
STORY: Driving around the coastline outside LaPaz, I stumbled across this isolated surf break, without a soul as far as the eye could see. The slope was extreme, creating a depth of 15′ deep in the same distance from shore, so each crashing wave would pull me out over my head. Sunset proved the best time to shoot here, letting the light shine through the back of the wave barrel, creating hues of yellow in the direct sunlight, and letting the blue sky shine through the top of each wave. Several times while waiting for the next wave set, I got buzzed by a large sea lion who was catching dinner; a huge squadron of cownose rays.
